About

Four meetings have been the cornerstones of our project, during which experienced Facilitation trainers and the members of the partner organizations learned about Facilitation and created a Facilitation handbook together, by applicating the concept and tools of Facilitation.     NICO-F Kick-off Meeting: January 13 – 14, 2009 in Izmir The first meeting of the Network of Intercultural Communication Organisations on ...

This is the HANDBOOK of our Network of Intercultural Communication Organizations on Facilitation (NICO_F) Project Feel free to get inspired, to search for some ideas or insights, to remember and use what we have achieved, and to marvel at what FACILITATION can do! You can follow the dynamic collection of what we worked on since 2008 and some of us are still working on - in a very participatory and thus rather ...

Methods

As we experienced it intensively within the NICO_F project, facilitation is on the one hand about the application of certain tools ("what" to apply) and on the other hand very much about the exposure to and our attitude behind its application ("how" to use the tools). Here we want to share both with you: the tools we learned and the experiences we gained in using them.

Stories

Our personal stories - such as impressions, jokes, feelings, observations - might explain best what NICO_F and Facilitation meant for us, what it did to us and why we consider it to be important..   What does NICO-F mean for me? In December 2008, my boss told me that in January I will travel to Turkey. I was quite surprised, why  there, so he described me with a few words the project, NICO-F. I did not know ...

Local applications

A core part of our partnership project is the application of the facilitation methods we learn about not only within the NICO_F project itself, but within our local organizations and communities as well. The various experiences we gained through integrating the approach and methods in our trainings, workshops and beyond, have shaped what we understand by facilitation and made possible the development of various ...

Tool box

Various tools have been tried out by us first during the NICO_F meetings and then during the location applications. Here we list the tools in the order of project steps for which we used them. Experiences with methods

The experiences with facilitation were very distinct for everyone of us; especially the exchange about the perspectives of beginners and these of the more experienced have been very fruitful (see our stories). Here you can find out about how a facilitation newbie learned that and in which ways Facilitation is more than just about certain tools (see toolbox), that it is also very much about the exposure to and our ...

Internal and external motivations

Why do we need facilitation? To approach this questions we spoke about two types of motivation to work with facilitation.   Internal motivation: We value a constant development Team work is important to us – We want to concentrate on cooperation We are looking for ways to empower ourselves Because we love to work with it We like to give value also to people not only to content We can be more effective in this ...
